The Outside Music Ensemble was formed in 1999 to perform creative music in interesting outdoor settings. Music is composed for the group with a specific performance site in mind. Since then the group has performed annual walk-in concerts on top of the butte in Powell Butte Nature Park at the east edge of Portland, Oregon. With an instrumentation of horns and percussion, the Outside Music Ensemble can perform outdoors in places where there is no electricity or stage. The group includes Rich Halley - saxophones, Michael Vlatkovich - trombone, Troy Grugett - saxophones, Jim Knodle - trumpet, Dave Storrs - percussion and Carson Halley - percussion.
